Daily Skin care for mature skin using the Jade Beauty Tool
There seems to be a new trend. Initially it began as a whisper and soon swelled to the high crescendo, echoing and booming down the halls of most beauty editors and across trade shows of the beauty industry. Yet Gua Sha or using Stone beauty tools is actually an ancient method and not so relatively new as we would like to think.
Gua Sha or Beauty Tools are made from natural stones such as Jade, Rose Quartz and even Amethyst. Each having its own unique property the same as if you had a bracelet of beads around your wrist. They are shaped and chiselled in a specific ergonomic way that aids itself to the contour of your face , eyebrow and jawline to be able to use it to increase circulation and give a face lifting effect from regular use.
Mature skin requires a little more delicacy and gentler treatment and some have found the beauty tools to be a marvel whilst others find it too harsh. Again, everything is objective and you would be wise as to how much pressure you use.
I considered a few companies but came across Kate’s website where she sells a range of products and shows you the Hayo’u Method. What I liked is that she shows you a video on how quick, easy and simple it is to incorporate this into your daily routine.
I use the Jade Beauty Tool, and as a sufferer of Rosacea and having mature skin, was a little cautious at first in its use. At first I thought it might be too hard and hurt as I dragged it across my forehead the exact opposite happened, it is rock solid but even with limited pressure it doesn’t hurt and you can see that on this particular area of the face where there is a lot of skull bone, shallow depth of skin layers that it did bring the circulation up quickly but didn’t leave me with red marks, or a permanent red line look you can often get from diving goggles!
I then moved onto the eyebrows, and cheek bone area, temples and the jawline and even up and down the neck muscles. After all I am a massage therapist and know of the benefits of neck work. Also it felt good to stimulate the glands in my neck to help support my immune system and help flush out toxins.
Kate’s website and others do offer a beauty oil to use with your beauty tool. However I have my own facial oil, or you might have a brand of facial oil that you like and use. The important part here is that you need an facial oil to help lubricate the skin so that it isn’t being dragged and the stone can glide across in smoother strokes.
Jade is a lovely choice, and I like how cool the stone feels before use, and sometimes I will leave it pressed gently under my eyes to help reduce puffiness before commencing with the facial treatment.
Care couldn’t be easier. I wash mine afterwards in warm water using a gentle cleanser, and then dried off with a towel and sometimes left out to capture the sunlight and to recharge its healing properties, the same way as you would cleanse a crystal stone.
The whole facial takes less than two minutes for me in the morning, my face has a glow from the increase of circulation and I feel refreshed ready to apply a moisturiser and sun protection shield cream. It doesn’t seem to speed up my ageing skin or sag it or create new wrinkles. It just assists my skin cell health, which can’t be a bad thing as you are transitioning into the Menopause. Some may say but I look flushed with hot sweats and I might get spots due to hormonal imbalances at this stage in the Menopause. The Jade Beauty Tool doesn’t actually increase and remain flushed and red all day, as for spots it is about finding a lighter facial oil to suit your skin type.
I would like to try the Rose Quartz at some point, but not the roller as I like the feel of the carved stone in my hand and it covers more. I am starting to incorporate it into my Tibetan Acupressure Face & head treatment to add an element of increased skin glow and aid the circulation process to slough away dead skin cells.
