W E L L N E S S / B A R N - Local wellness business spotlight

Sometimes we need a haven to retreat to. A sanctuary hidden away from the hectic pace and stress of daily life. Well…this is where the lovely and super talented Becky can help. Becky has many years of experience as a skincare specialist offering a range of holistic therapies. Recently an opportunity arose for her to set up a gorgeous space called ‘Luminate’ based in the heart of a pretty South Oxfordshire village called West Hagbourne.

‘Luminate’ is a stunning wellness barn that is easily accessible from most villages, towns and cities that offers plenty of on site parking with a range of facilities to make your treatment feel that extra special. From the infrared sauna and crystal laden waiting area, to sumptuous treatment rooms where every wellbeing need can be catered for from massages, facials, through to lifestyle consultations such as herbal medicine, iridology and more.

It is wonderful to be able to interview Becky and share with you what ‘Luminate’ can offer. Especialy those of you seeking a wellness space that offers you a chance to feel good about your wellbeing journey.

Please do support Becky and ‘Luminate’ by sharing, liking and of course booking a visit. I myself have been and it really is a treat on all levels. With many options and a great place to share with a friend or loved one.

How did  ‘Luminate’ Wellness Barn evolve? Was there something specific that prompted you to start?

I’ve always had a passion for alternative therapies & I’ve been on my own healing journey for a few years now. This sparked something inside of me & I decided to follow my dreams & open up my own wellness clinic. My vision was to have somewhere people could come & try alternative treatments to help them on their healing journey. I have collaborated with other holistic therapists who all offer different treatments to help you on your journey of improving your health & wellness.

Do you have a favourite treatment and skincare product and why?

Over the last few years I’ve really been trying to be more mindful with what I put on my skin as so many products on the market contain toxic ingredients that effect our wellbeing. Some of my favourite brands I use at the moment are, White Crow & Pinks Boutique. I also use Alumier MD which is a medical grade brand which I purchase through Bare Essentials in Wantage. They contain active ingredients, feeding the skin cells what they need but do not use harmful ingredients like sulfates, parabens, dyes and artificial fragrances.

My favourite treatments are deep tissue massage & energy healing (reiki) which we specialise in at Luminate - these keep me balanced & feeling my best.

What is the best piece of advice you were ever given?

The body is a miraculous self-healing entity and given the right circumstances, it can heal from anything. We just need to be taught how to do this.

Do you have any tips for health & wellness?

Start with small steps…

Clean up your diet by cutting out processed foods, sugar & seed oils.

Start adding more organic foods into your diet & cooking food from scratch as much as possible.

Exercise is so good for your metal health - 30 mins walking a day will be hugely beneficial.

Make time for you every day, even if it’s only 10/15 mins of mediation when you can squeeze it in.

Eventually these things will become a habit & you will miss them when you don’t have time.

Wellness is not about perfection but about making better choices consistently.

What helps you unwind & de-stress?

Meditation & dog walks in the countryside with my 3 dogs.

Name three foods that you absolutely love.

Healthy salads

Acai/smoothie bowls

Spaghetti Bolognese
