The natural healing benefit of essential oils
Can you remember how Lavender makes you feel when you inhale bunches of its wonderful rich purpled stems in the late summer, or a friend offers you to smell a candle in a shop scented with Lavender made using Lavender pure essential oil or you wash your hands with a handmade soap using Lavender Essential Oil. it instantly transports you to a place of calm right? Or reminds you of a summer holiday, a special time or place.
This is how powerful and effective essential oils can be with our sensory arena, such as smell and touch.
Oils now can be used in many ways within our home and in our first aid kits. I have long been a user of diffusers and warming stones, to diffuse an element of a plant oiling the air. To either purify, stimulate, calm or cleanse. There are so many wonderful options out there to choose from with an every growing awareness of the benefits and studies into them on a scientific level, ensure they will continue to be part of our lives for many decades to come.
I use a steam diffuser in the main living part of our home, with a warming stone in our entrance hallway. As this is the first line of defence or welcome as we step through the door after a long day at work or school or just to welcome friends when they visit and lift their mood.
Recently I came across the U.S company DoTerra having heard many positive reports on their OnGuard blend which is great for the immune system. It is like a cinnamon spice mix, and smells warm and welcoming as I burn this in our entrance hallway, to help fend off any potential winter viruses that tend to plague us at this time of year.
I believe to date they are the only company that produce food grade oils, which means they can be ingested by placing a few drops in water and directly onto the skin. Peppermint is an all time favourite of mine, it’s smell reminds me of candy canes and really works wonders rubbed onto the temples and wrists when I feel a headache coming on. It is like having a fresh breeze of mint wafted across your forehead. I carry it with me in my handbag for those unexpected times when a headache or stress tension can strike.
As a Wellness Advocate, there are many oils that may be a benefit to you and I would be more than happy to suggest any or if you visit me for a treatment can supply a small complimentary sample for you to see for yourself the wonder of their oils.
Lemongrass is something I keep in the kitchen, as it really does assist in eliminating those unwanted cooking smells, particularly fish or string cheeses like Raclette or Fondue, or fried food. It is a prefect Kitchen Oil due to its uplifting, citrus aroma and reminds me of Italian summer lemon groves, even though I haven’t visited one!
